About The ElderLaw Firm, in Greensboro, NC

The Elderlaw Firm was founded by Dennis Toman, to focus on the needs of our senior population. The Elderlaw Firm started because we know that families desparately need the information that we can provide and they are likely to have difficulty finding elsewhere. Too many times a husband or wife has been in my office and told me that they have been paying for nursing home expenses of $5,000 per month, even up to $10,000 per month, month after month and concerned about how they will live after the money has all been spent on their spouse's care. If only they had seen our office sooner, we could have shown them how they could have protected the family's life savings against the catastrophic costs of nursing home care. In fact, that is a key area of our practice: helping the healthy spouse take the right steps now, so that they will not have to spend down to $100,000 or less and wind up without enough money to even maintain the homeplace.

Our vow is to assist families in making the right plans and taking the necessary steps now, before Medicaid is even needed, whenever possible. For some people, Medicaid planning is only crisis planning. In our office, we strive to provide the information you need to stay at home longer, to access important VA benefits for wartime veterans, and to understand the Special Assistance Options available for Assisted Living Communities. No one wants to go to a nursing home, and no one wants to place a parent in one unless it is absolutely necessary. We look for ways to support the caregiver spouse, and the caregiver child, to let them fulfill their pledge to provide care but to work towards other possible care options where appropriate or necessary.
